He has over 35 years experience in the Civil Engineering sector having left school at 16 to start as a junior setting out engineer with local company Brims in 1980.

Chris was promoted to Managing Director in 2000.
Today he takes full responsibility for all the company’s activities and is the current Chairman of CECA (North East).

Chris is a highly motivated member of Northumbrian Roads management team with over 20 years practical experience in surfacing works.
Brought into the business at the age of 16 by his father John, Chris has worked his way through the ranks gathering “hands on” experience all the way. His particular interest in construction plant and equipment has helped the company improve its asset capabilities.
Today he is involved in the day to day running of the business and is fully committed to delivering a best value quality service.

Sean, like his brother Chris, was brought into the business by his father at an early age.
Making use of his HNC qualification he added further engineering capability to the organisation and was soon involved in the commercial side of the business.
Sean also has over 20 years experience in civil engineering and surfacing projects and his enthusiasm and commitment to a “right first time” approach has made him well known in the industry.
Sean is involved in the day to day running of the company’s contracts and he has fostered many of the longer term relationships that exist today.

Dave has over 35 years experience in the Civil Engineering industry, more specifically, 22 years experience with Tarmac Contracting initially in the capacity of quantity surveyor but in more recent years as General Manager running the Birtley office.
Dave is a well known and respected person in the North East market and his role as Business Development Manager with Northumbrian Roads began on 1st March 2010 with the main aim of delivering the company’s business plan.

John joined Northumbrian Roads in February 2014 possessing over 35 years of experience gained within a variety of areas of business such as ;

Whilst his core experience is within purchasing and procurement, John brings a broad range of experience and knowledge having been involved with functions such as estimating, quantity surveying and contracts management.
John is a member of the Institute of Asphalt Technology (MIAT)

Stephen is the longest serving member of the senior management team.
He has over 30 years experience in highways surfacing.
He possesses an extensive knowledge of paving operation and has been responsible for the delivery of many prestigious surfacing contracts around the region over the years.
Having risen through the ranks, Stephen became Contracts Supervisor in 2004 and today he runs a number of sites simultaneously.
He is qualified to CITB SSSTS and is a member of the Institute of Asphalt Technology (MIAT)

Richard joined the company in 2006 and was instrumental in the design, layout, selection, planning and erection of our first asphalt coating plant at The Port of Sunderland where he is based today.
Richard has extensive knowledge and experience of coating plants, quarrying, recycling, waste management and health and safety.
His knowledge of coated material production is unparalleled and has over 25 years experience in this field.
Richard’s experience has enabled Northumbrian Roads materials manufacturing and supply capability expand confidently since his arrival and he is fully committed to ensuring compliance with Quality Sector schemes 14 and 16.
Richard is a member of the Institute of Quarrying (IOQ), the Institute of Asphalt Technology (MIAT) and as the company’s appointed Safety Officer is also a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Joanne has worked for the company for over 20 years providing support to the management team and is a highly motivated team member.
Joanne has the knowledge in the requirements of ISO9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 enabling the company to be accredited to all three standards including National Highway Sector Schemes 14 & 16. Her role includes the control, implementation and review of the policies and procedures that form the company’s Integrated Management System.
As Office Manager Joanne is also responsible for overseeing the day to day running of systems at Head Office.

Lindsay joined Northumbrian Roads following sixth form at the local high school where she gained 9 GCSE’s and NVQ levels 1 and 2 in Business Administration.
She then gained NVQ level 3 in her first year with the company.
Lindsay has been with the company 20 years to date and still displays the same enthusiasm and passion for the business as she did on her arrival.
Her roles and responsibilities have increased over the years having moved from simple admin duties and telephone work to today where she manages the company’s cashflow alongside sales and purchase ledger together with PA duties to the directors.

With over 25 years experience working in a customer focussed industry, her warm, friendly personality makes her an excellent communicator and is highly motivated in delivering a quality customer service.
She is well organised and a true team player and has fitted into the Northumbrian Roads family very quickly.
She is qualified to QCF Level 2 in both Business Administration and Customer Service and also possess a NEBOSH Level 2 qualification.
