Northumbrian Roads, and all its employees, are proud of its reputation for quality.
Everyone within the company is committed to implementing all of its management systems. It is always our desire to exceed our client’s expectation; in order to meet their demands we operate a quality system which meets the standard of ISO9001:2015 including National Highway Sector Scheme 16 for the Laying of Asphalt Mixes.

We are active members of CECA (North East) where Joanne McCreedy (Office Manager, Director) has recently been elected to the board of Directors.
We are approved to both CHAS and Constructionline.

We are proud of our safety performance and adopt a pro active attitude towards safety and operate a robust health and safety management system to an accredited standard BS OHSAS 18001: 2007.
We are CHAS registered and have received ROSPA awards for exceptional safety performance. We boast an enviable lost time incident rate. Our Health and Safety Forum

sits regularly and discuss best practices, improvements, near misses, welfare etc. We conduct regular site briefings, audits and tool box talks across all divisions of the business. The company actively participates in the Newcastle Construction Safety Group meetings.
Environmental
Management
Northumbrian Roads maintains a responsible approach towards the environment.
The company gained ISO14001 status in 2006 and in 2017 gaining approval to the 2015 standard View ISO14001: 2015 Certificate in recognition of its commitment to green and sustainable operations.
We are committed to setting ambitious targets and continue to attempt to drive down the amount of waste produced.

In 2008, we were invited by the Carbon Trust to carry out a full assessment of our operations involving the extraction, import and distribution of aggregates, bitumen and filler within our production methods at The Port of Sunderland. In 2010, we were crowned as a "Low Carbon City Champion" by Sunderland City Council for our excellent results in reducing CO2 emissions from our operations. Today, Northumbrian Roads impress many clients with its carbon counting system and have won many a contract from clients looking for wider benefits other than just a competitive price
Social Value
Northumbrian Roads takes its corporate social responsibilities very seriously.
The recent Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 has placed an onus on businesses to consider where its money is spent in terms of "localism". Northumbrian Roads Ltd. is a private, independent, North East registered company owned by local people employing local people with a local supply chain.

Long before the 2012 act, Northumbrian Roads were putting these principles into practice and its relationship with Sunderland City Council and the way wider benefits are delivered through its long term lease at The Port of Sunderland is a working model we are proud of and look to take into other areas as part of our growth plans as a business.
As Social Value becomes more of a priority for Public Sector Contract Procurement, Northumbrian Roads have subscribed to LM3 online, a tool which enables businesses to calculate its local economic impact on a community from its activities. This will provide tangible evidence that Northumbrian Roads is at the forefront when being considered for contract awards.
Continuous
Improvement
Our company’s vision is: "Delivering Exceptional Service Every Day"
To achieve this we are never afraid to take a good look at ourselves. We adopt a bold approach towards our business direction and remain focussed on our values. We have a "bespoke" performance measurement system which promotes continuous improvement from within.

This approach creates healthy debate amongst our employees with positive results. We encourage our customers to provide open feedback on our performance to enable us to act upon identified weaknesses in a proactive way. We are proud of the amount of repeat business we have and we put this down to being happy to listen to our clients feedback and accepting that we are human beings trying to exceed our clients expectations.
